In eight years of practice in the Athens area, I’ve helped people from many back grounds work through problems relating to anxiety, stress, anger, mood disorders, life transitions, and trauma.

In my daily life and my practice, I appreciate the unique qualities of each person I meet. In my work, I use this appreciation to build trusting, non-judgmental relationships in which a person can feel heard, respected, and motivated towards desired change. My approach to treatment focuses on supporting individuals as they increase personal insight and awareness, enhance self-compassion, and tap into their abilities to heal and/or reach personal goals.

In practice, I pull from mindfulness-based Cognitive behavioral therapies including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). Using these approaches, I help clients increase awareness, observe what can be changed, and make effective choices for creating change. In these modalities I encourage clients to find balance between extremes with flexibility and commitment. I also use the evidence-based trauma treatment Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). Using this model I help individuals work towards healing by making links between unhelpful aspects of traumatic memories and present day problems. In my own life, I find peace and pleasure connecting with family and friends, creative pursuits, running and other exercise. I learn life lessons from each of these endeavors, and use my appreciation of human connection, creativity, and physical wellness in my approach to therapy.
