Empathy is at the heart of my therapeutic approach-empathy informed by my early experience in life immigrating to the United States from Mexico.  I know the experience of feeling different and trying to fit in, and I also know it is possible to build resilience while dealing with obstacles and to have a joyful life and relationships.  I believe the quality of our relationships and our sense of connection to our community is key for our well-being.  I strive to build a client-centered therapeutic relationship where treatment is tailored to the individual.  Therapy should give clients a safe, non-judgmental space where healing can take place.

My passion is to work with adults, couples, and families, helping those who need healing and  support, in particular those who are dealing with grief, adjustment to life changes, anxiety, depression, trauma,  faith-based work, personal growth, self-esteem, and parenting or relationship struggles.  With individuals, I use my skills and knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and more in combination with Expressive Therapies.  Expressive Therapy  involves the use of combinations of creative expressions such as art, music and movement to help people explore and transform difficult emotions. My couple and family work is informed by CBT, Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT) and Gottman concepts.  I have completed advanced training in Sue Johnson’s Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples.  I am also bilingual,  Spanish/English.

I am a wife and a mother of two growing children and understand the ongoing struggle for work/life balance and self-care routines.  In my free time, I enjoy reading, anime, watching TV and movies, and game nights and water balloon adventures with my family.  Reach out to me and let’s get started.
