Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, especially when you’ve been carrying heavy emotional burdens for a long time. I specialize in working with individuals navigating anxiety, difficulties in relationships or family dynamics, and life transitions. Many clients come to me feeling controlled by their emotions or stuck in old patterns that keep them from moving forward.

After working in higher education for several years, I made a meaningful career change to mental health counseling. My therapeutic approach draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. That means learning real-life skills to manage emotions, exploring the parts of you shaped by past experiences, and building a life that feels more aligned with what matters most to you.

I believe therapy should be collaborative and tailored to your unique strengths and experiences. My goal is to create an environment where you feel understood and capable of meaningful growth.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, rewatching my favorite shows, and cuddling up with my two cats, Madge and Chidi.

Laura is seeing clients in our Athens office and via telehealth . She is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Anthem, Alliant, Kaiser,  and Aetna insurance.
