My joy in my work comes from partnering with my clients to achieve their best quality of life right now while moving toward their ideal vision for their lives, and ultimately regaining their true essence and aliveness. Difficulties and relationship conflicts are life’s invitation to grow. The path may be challenging, but also joyful if we are conscious in our choices and build skills to be more present in our lives rather than simply reacting to stress or living on autopilot.
My style combines expertise, skill modeling, and compassionate acceptance to allow each unique client to safely explore at their own pace. I am directive and give feedback while respecting the process, which reveals each person’s inner wisdom. As a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, I teach couples, families, and individuals proven communication techniques that lessen reactivity and increase connection and empathy. Couples may recover from infidelity, poor communication, sexual difficulties, emotional distance, separation/divorce/remarriage. Individuals learn to identify patterns and improve relationship and communication skills. Families struggling with grief/loss, illness, or alcoholism and recovery challenges gain understanding, improve communication, and identify coping skills and boundaries.
My other specialties include grief (individual and group work), trauma, life transitions, recovery, gay and lesbian relationship issues, eating and body image, supervision, and personal growth. My work honors the mind/body connection. I am passionate about teaching mindfulness and yoga skills to alleviate anxiety and depression, to promote healing from grief and trauma, and to achieve more mind/body awareness. In my personal life as a busy Mom and therapist, I practice what I encourage having had a regular meditation and yoga practice for self-care for over a decade.
