Informed by my experience working as a Therapist for more than 10 years in varied settings and as a Registered Yoga Teacher, I view each person as a unique individual with strengths and talents that shine when their best self is uncovered. As human beings, we are designed to connect with one another, therefore I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation to begin the healing process. Healing is found through focusing on the union of the mind, body, and spirit and I am here to help you discover and grow into your authentic self in each of these areas.
I combine a person-centered therapeutic approach with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which focuses on building skills to improve emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal relationships. My specialties include work with eating disorders, anxiety and depression, mood disorders, life transitions, trauma, substance abuse, and overall wellness. My special interest in eating disorders and disordered eating stems from walking the path of recovery with many clients. I understand that disordered eating can present in many ways, and I can help clients to identify where their relationship with food and exercise is out of balance. I empathize with clients on a level that allows me to connect and go through the recovery process with you. Recovery from disordered eating is extremely challenging, and my gentle, compassionate, yet skillful approach will help you improve your relationship with food and yourself.
In addition to specializing in eating disorders and disordered eating, I also work with those dealing with Substance Use Disorders and their family members. Addiction affects the mind body and spirit as well as the family unit. I view each person holistically and I believe that true healing and wellness comes from working through former and present challenges as a complete person. As a therapist I draw on my background as a Yoga teacher as well and when appropriate, I incorporate mindfulness and yoga skills as another tool for helping my clients heal. I am here to help you on a deeply empathic level, listen and hear you, ready and willing to connect with you, and see you for who you are on an individual level with the many gifts and talents you have to offer. We are all unique and I am ready to help you grow and become your best self!
