Hi! I’m Bethany, and I am so glad you are here. Reaching out for counseling can feel scary, and I am proud of you for taking this first step. It is okay not to have all the answers or even know exactly where to begin. We can  find answers together.  I am so excited to meet you and get started.

I work with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, stress, difficult relationships, painful life experiences, and the many challenges that can leave us feeling overwhelmed or stuck. You may be struggling with something that happened recently, carrying the effects of experiences from long ago, or simply realizing that the ways you have learned to cope are no longer working for you. Whatever brings you to therapy, my goal is to offer a safe and confidential space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported.

I am also especially interested in supporting parents and caregivers. In the past, I  worked closely with children in foster care and the caregivers supporting them. As a working mom of three, I also understand personally how rewarding, exhausting, and complicated parenting can be. After all, raising children does not come with a handbook! Therapy can offer a place to talk honestly about the pressures of parenting, better understand your own emotional responses, and find healthier ways to care for yourself while caring for the people who depend on you.

My approach leans heavily on forming a real connection and incorporating evidence-informed approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR can help reduce the emotional intensity of traumatic memories so that experiences from the past feel less overwhelming in the present. Because no two people are exactly alike, I will tailor our work to your individual needs, experiences, and goals.

I have more than nine years of counseling experience and have provided individual therapy, trauma assessments, treatment planning, clinical supervision, and support for clients and caregivers in community-based settings. These experiences have strengthened my belief that people can heal, grow, and build more satisfying lives when they have the right support.

Outside of the therapy room, you can usually find me spending time with my family, reading, or searching for the best local coffee shop. I am also a lover of animals and other critters—including a small army of jumping spiders!

Bethany will be available to see clients beginning soon in our Athens location or via telehealth tfor  those located  anywhere in  Georgia. She is in able to take most Ambetter and Medicare plans as an in-network provider– more to come.
