My goal as a counselor is to support my clients as they navigate the challenges of life and help them learn the skills to navigate those challenges on their own. I offer a safe space for my clients to explore their concerns and move towards their goals in our work together.

Through my own experience in counseling, I have learned that it is valuable to have a place where I am both accepted as I am, while also being challenged to grow. This is the kind of environment I am committed to providing my clients. Every interaction I have with a client is a privilege, and I would be honored if you choose to share your story with me.

To be an effective counselor, I strive to be competent and welcoming in working with clients from diverse backgrounds, including racial identity, ability status, sexual orientations, gender identity and expression and continually work on my self-awareness of how my own life experiences will affect interactions in therapy.

I offer individual counseling services to adults (18+) in-person in Athens, Georgia or via telehealth across the state of Georgia. I have experience working with clients with anxiety, family stress, emotional instability, trauma, depression, grief, and life transitions. I find it particularly rewarding working with clients who have experienced sexual abuse or assault and are working to recover and thrive. I tailor my counseling services to each client’s individual needs, but tend to pull from a few specific counseling modalities, including, but not limited to:

    • Internal Family Systems Therapy

A therapeutic method involving connecting with the different parts of ourselves for the purpose of understanding them and working with them in a more effective way.

    • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Skill building for crisis management, mindfulness, emotion  regulation, and interpersonal relationships.

    • Cognitive Processing Therapy

A trauma therapy based in reevaluating beliefs surrounding a trauma experience.

I live in the Athens area with my spouse and our two cats, Rocket and Goose. I enjoy visiting the UGA Botanical Gardens and I dabble in gardening myself. I spend much of my time reading, watching TV with my husband (my favorite show is The Good Place), and doing arts and crafts! Right now, I am really into embroidery, crochet, and watercolor painting.

Seeing  clients in Athens and via telehealth throughout Georgia. Elizabeth is in-network with Alliant health, is a Kaiser Affiliated Provider, and is a Certified out-of-network TRICARE provider.
