“Love is not the icing on the cake of life. It is a basic primary need, like oxygen or water. Once we understand and accept this, we can more easily get to the heart of relationship problems.” Dr. Susan Johnson – Hold Me Tight
I am so happy you are here. Bios can be so stale, but hopefully this one will paint a colorful picture of who I am and what to expect in a session with me.
Being a therapist is literally so cool and rewarding. Each day I have the opportunity to offer at least two things – to help you feel understood and less alone. No matter where you are in your life, I want to meet you there. I strive to be inviting, engaging, but also actively listen to you and your story.
It feels risky to try therapy, because it is. I want to take those risks with you! I strive to provide a safe environment for clients from different backgrounds, cultures, sexual identities, gender identities or expression. My therapeutic philosophy incorporates compassion and a person centered approach. I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy [EFT/EFIT] and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy [ACT] in session. This is where I reference the quote above and say LOVE WINS. In my work with couples and individuals I want explore your attachment needs and navigate your emotional cycles in order to better understand how you operate on your own and in relationships. Having the language and understanding to make changes to old cycles can offer a new experience to better understand you and your partner.
Outside of the office I enjoy spending time with my wife and our four fur children – Leo, Ellie, Lucy, and Samson. We live for family cuddles and lazy Sundays. I am a lover of books and the outdoors.
I can’t wait to meet you and get started.
