Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, especially when you’ve been carrying heavy emotional burdens for a long time. My goal is to provide a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. I specialize in working with individuals navigating complex trauma, anxiety, and interpersonal relationship issues—including difficulties related to family dynamics and emotional challenges stemming from past or present relationships. Many clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck in old patterns, or disconnected from themselves and others. We will work together toward healing that is both compassionate and empowering.
My path in mental health counseling began when I earned my BA in Psychology from Piedmont University in 2015 and my MS in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University is 2025. My therapeutic approach draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Narrative Therapy. These modalities allow us to explore your internal world with curiosity, build practical skills for emotion regulation, and reshape the stories that may be keeping you from moving forward.
I believe therapy should be collaborative and tailored to your unique strengths and experiences. My goal is to help you strengthen emotional resilience, deepen self-understanding, and create healthier, more fulfilling connections with yourself and others.
In my spare time, I enjoy knitting, spending time with friends, and cuddling up with my two cats, Madge and Chidi.
Laura is seeing clients in our Athens office and via telehealth . She is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Anthem, Alliant, Kaiser, and Aetna insurance.
