The relationship with your therapist is a vital part of the healing process. I recognize that each person is shaped by their unique environment and experiences. I offer a warm and compassionate approach to create a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, better understand yourself, and navigate the changes and challenges in your life. I support adults navigating anxiety, life changes, work life balance, depression, and effects of trauma.
As someone with a multicultural background, being Afghan American, a child of an immigrant, and being married to a partner from Latin America—I deeply value diversity and inclusivity. I can understand our layers of identity that influence our mental health and I have a strong commitment to culturally sensitive therapy. My background informs my practice, particularly in understanding the experiences of bridging multiple cultures and the challenges faced by first-generation college students and children of immigrants.
As a therapist, I draw on four years of experience in nonprofit and community mental health settings working with individuals from all walks of life. This experience equips me to understand the complexities that marginalized communities face. In our sessions, I strive to create an inclusive and supportive space where each individual feels valued and understood. I place a strong emphasis on rapport, recognizing that I’m not just a therapist—I’m a person too. While I may not have all the solutions, I’m a careful, empathetic listener, bringing a calm presence to our sessions, allowing you to take up as much space in the therapy room as you need. I do this work because I sincerely care about my clients and their well-being.
I work collaboratively with clients, tailoring therapy to your individual needs. My approaches include Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MB-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and trauma-informed care. In our sessions, I also use psychoeducation about the nervous system to help normalize your experiences and make sense of your triggers. We’ll spend time learning how to regulate your nervous system, process emotions, and explore new perspectives through reframing. This approach is particularly beneficial for those struggling with anxiety, rumination, and negative self-talk, which can make everyday life feel exhausting.
Life changes and transitions—whether we perceive them as positive or negative- can be overwhelming. Whether you are starting a new career, moving cities, or adjusting to college, I help clients find meaning in these transitions and build confidence in their next steps. With a focus on self-compassion, we will work through struggles with self-esteem and use a strengths-based approach to help you live up to your potential. My goal is to create a safe space where you can discover what you truly want your life to look like.
In my free time, I enjoy snuggling with my Maltipoo Teddy, cooking, and exploring walking trails. My husband and I, originally from the Virginia/DC metro area, enjoy exploring coffee shops in Atlanta, binge-watching our favorite shows together, and going to boxing fitness classes.
I’m currently seeing clients in-person at our Tucker/Northlake location and virtually throughout Georgia. I look forward to hearing from you and hope to be part of your mental health journey!
