Relationship Therapy is for Everyone

Certified Imago Relationship Therapist
Part I
At Counseling Associates for Well-Being, we focus a lot on relational well-being. This is because we believe relational well-being is key to overall well-being. We are all part of families on some level and even if one lives alone, no one exists in a vacuum. We know that loneliness can have a negative impact on physical and mental health and connection and love can be important factors in healing from illness and in overall life satisfaction.
Who can benefit from Relationship Therapy? Couples, families, parents and adult children, friends, siblings, co-workers and any version of an important relationship can benefit from improved understanding and communication. Even individuals can do “Relationship Therapy”. Clients in individual therapy can explore their relationship patterns, attachment style, unconscious attraction patterns and gain self-awareness and work on boundaries, communication and empathy for others.
As a Relationship Therapist, I see each client from a holistic perspective including the relationships in their lives and not in a one-sided or one-dimensional way. We can work on improving a relationship whether both parties are present or not. I often say “the more people in the room, the better”. However, one person working on their part of a dynamic can make a big impact. We will talk more about individual Relationship Therapy in the next post.
